Definition

This subsector comprises establishments primarily engaged in: repairing and maintaining motor vehicles, machinery, equipment and other products. These establishments repair or perform general or routine maintenance on such products, to ensure that they work efficiently.

Exclusions

Establishments primarily engaged in:
repairing construction works or components (see 23 Construction),
rebuilding machinery and equipment on a factory basis (see 31-33 Manufacturing),
retailing and repair activities (e.g., automobile dealers) (see 44-45 Retail trade),
repairing transportation equipment at airports, seaports and other transportation facilities (see 488 Support
activities for transportation).
