Summary: SRP is an international multi-stakeholder alliance that is transforming the global rice industry to be more equitable, stable, and sustainable. We work in several ways to take action for sustainable rice and have created a system of tools to help drive our cause. Our tools contain a blueprint for sustainable farming techniques, plus a system that links markets with farmers using sustainable methods. This gives you access to verified, sustainably produced rice. Defined Standard: The use of the Certification Mark indicates that the processed grain, in particular rice bearing the Certification Mark has been produced using climate-smart, sustainable best practices, in compliance with the Certification Mark Owner's "Standard for Sustainable Rice Cultivation"; and that the processed grain, in particular rice exhibits specific characteristics, standards and features in compliance with the Certification Mark Owner's "Standard for Sustainable Rice Cultivation" and the Certification Mark Owner's "Performance Indicators for Sustainable Rice Cultivation". The use of the Certification Mark is subject to compliance with the conditions and processes set out under the Certification Mark Owner's "Assurance Scheme". The "Standard for Sustainable Rice Cultivation" covers all farm-level processes in rice production, including postharvest processes under the farmer's control. These consist of requirements under the following eight themes: farm management, pre-planting, water use, nutrient management, pest management, harvest and postharvest, health and safety, and labour rights. Products bearing the Certification Mark must have scored a minimum of 90% against these requirements and have met the essential compliance level (threshold) for each requirement, as verified by third-party audit. The individual requirements, their corresponding levels of compliance, and the points associated with those levels, as well as the essential compliance level (threshold) for each requirement, are contained in the attached "Standard for Sustainable Rice Cultivation" at pages 13 to 43. Further details are set out in the attached "Performance Indicators for Sustainable Rice Cultivation" and "Assurance Scheme", and summarized in the attached "SRP Certification trademark and seal".
