Satisfying a growing market need

Coming from a long line of entrepreneurs in the electricity field, siblings and co-founders Marie-Pier Corbeil and David Corbeil decided to go into business for themselves by creating a company that offers energy management solutions for owners of electric vehicles (EV). The goal was to create a solution that was accessible and universal, making EV charging as seamless as possible, regardless of the type of dwelling.

While the business model is ultimately based on the hardware, what separates RVE from its competitors is its human approach. Its solution aims to resolve the unique challenges faced by EV owners, and the company's market expertise helps enhance the experience for its clients.

Relying on its team's expertise and a deep understanding of the industry, RVE is able to not only offer a quality product but also help advance the EV transformation overall by serving as a platform to help educate partners and clients.

The Challenge

Even for an established company that has doubled its employees in the last few years and that has begun expanding into the United States, there is always room for improvement. The challenge for RVE was that it had multiple databases that were not speaking to each other, so the ultimate goal was to centralize all the data and optimize processes. This is an important step, especially since many members of the team work remotely.

Enter Lakhos, the digital consulting firm that collaborated with RVE through the Boost Your Business Technology grant, offering the support and guidance the company needed to achieve its digital transformation goals. Lakhos was able to help RVE make connections and merge its existing databases into a single customer relationship management system. The advisory services provided were instrumental in guiding this transition and allowed RVE to develop a plan to navigate the technical side of change management and allocate resources accordingly. RVE has now successfully merged all its e-commerce, sales and technical support data onto a single platform, making collaboration between teams easier and more efficient.

David: Hi, I'm David Corbeil, the CEO and co-founder of Recharge Véhicule Électrique.

My entrepreneurial journey began around 2013–2014, when I saw significant growth in the electrification of transportation and in energy management needs.

I convinced my sister Marie-Pier to join me on this adventure.

I co-founded RVE in 2015 with the goal of transforming the home charging industry.

Marie-Pier: Essentially, we are working every day to help give those who live in multi-unit buildings access to a charging point at their parking spot.

David: So we developed an energy management system for electric vehicles that optimizes charging and automates electricity billing.

Marie-Pier: We already had the human resources at our disposal, as well as the tools, so all that was really left was financing.

It's our marketing director who told us about the program.

It really seemed to be aligned with our needs.

David: So with CDAP, we were looking to digitally transform operations so that we could more easily see all the information flowing through the company, as well as transactions with various partners.

Marie-Pier: The program was a great help in our company's digital transformation. It gave us the financial resources to get the help we needed.

That kind of process requires a great deal of expertise and resources that we, as an SME, don't necessarily have internally.
