Login process for CIPO online services

What you need to do now

Complete the 1-time account migration process by logging into a CIPO online service.

Migrating your existing ISED account to the new sign-in platform will allow you to maintain access to your existing online intellectual property (IP) portfolio and account history with us.

Please note that to comply with the terms and conditions of our new platform, each individual must have their own unique GCKey or Sign-In Partner credentials for connecting to CIPO online services.

Important note about logging in with GCKey

If you select GCKey as your login provider, you will be directed to the "Welcome to GCKey" page.

On this page, do not enter your My ISED Account credentials.

  • If you already have a GCKey, enter your existing GCKey username and password.
  • If you don't have a GCKey, you must select "Sign Up" to create a GCKey account.

The account migration process involves three steps:

Step 1: Select your new login credentials

You will require a new set of login credentials to do business using CIPO's online services. After completing the 1-time migration process, you'll sign in with either

  • GCKey, a unique electronic credential issued by the Government of Canada, or
  • The Interac sign-in service (Sign-In Partner) using your Canadian online banking credentials.

If you don't have a GCKey, you'll be able to create one during the migration process.

Step 2: Link your existing CIPO client profile to your My Canada Business Account

Connecting your existing username to the new My Canada Business Account platform will allow you to maintain access to your existing online intellectual property (IP) portfolio and account history with us.

Step 3: Set up your 2-step verification

To support the Government of Canada's priority of addressing concerns related to fraud attempts and cyber-security attacks on federal departments, a mandatory 2-step verification step has been added as an extra layer of security.
