New login process for CIPO online services

The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) is continuing to roll out changes to the login process for our online services. These changes will help make your account more secure.

On , a new login process was implemented for all CIPO online transactional services.

What you need to do now

  • Complete the 1-time account migration process:
    • You must follow the instructions that were sent to the email address listed on your My ISED Account.

Migrating your existing ISED account to the new sign-in platform will allow you to maintain access to your existing online intellectual property (IP) portfolio and account history with us.

Please note that to comply with the terms and conditions of our new platform, each individual must have their own unique GCKey or Sign-In Partner credentials for connecting to CIPO online services.

Important note about logging in with GCKey

If you select GCKey as your login provider, you will be directed to the "Welcome to GCKey" page.

On this page, do not enter your My ISED Account credentials.

  • If you already have a GCKey, enter your existing GCKey username and password.
  • If you don't have a GCKey, you must select "Sign Up" to create a GCKey account.

Step 2: Link your existing CIPO client profile to your My Canada Business Account

Connecting your existing username to the new My Canada Business Account platform (formerly known as My ISED Account) will allow you to maintain access to your existing online intellectual property (IP) portfolio and account history with us.

Step 3: Set up your 2-step verification

To support the Government of Canada's priority of addressing concerns related to fraud attempts and cyber-security attacks on federal departments, a mandatory 2-step verification step has been added as an extra layer of security.
