Modernized Canadian trademarks database—April 5, 2017
CIPO is pleased to announce the release of the modernized Canadian trademarks database, which will introduce a simplified search engine optimizing both accessibility and usability, while presenting a contemporary look and feel. Canadian trade-marks database—September 28, 2015
The Canadian trade-marks database will now include reference to the Nice classes that have been assigned to the goods and services for the purpose of assessing confusion. While this information is provided for search purposes only, you will be able to search trademarks on the database using the Nice classification criterion. Once the goods and services have been grouped and classed by the client, this information will be updated accordingly.
Classification data—September 28, 2015
CIPO accepts trademark applications filed with their goods and services grouped and classed according to the Nice Classification. Also, you may now search the database by Nice classification. For more information, please consult the updates to the Canadian Trademarks Database.
Integration of Canadian data into EUIPO TMview—September 14, 2015
A collaborative, international effort with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). This search tool integrates Canadian trademarks data into TMview and allows users to search trademark data from participating IP offices.
Sound marks—March 28, 2012
Please note that you now can search for sound marks in the Canadian Trademarks Database. To listen to a sound, click on its hyperlink on the details page of the mark. CIPO is taking applications for the registration of trademarks consisting of sounds.
