September 19 – CIPO office closure

The Prime Minister of Canada has announced that Monday, , will be a one-time holiday for the federal public service to coincide with Her Late Majesty's State Funeral and the end of the official period of mourning in Canada. The decision to hold a one-time paid holiday in the Queen's honour is in line with similar holidays in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, and is in keeping with this historic event and Canadian convention.

With respect to the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), this means that CIPO will be closed for business on that day.

As a result of the office closure of : (i) CIPO will consider all time limits to be extended until , and (ii) , will be considered a prescribed day for the purposes of section 78 of the Patent Act, section 66 of the Trademarks Act and section 21 of the Industrial Design Act.
