When Eddy Lamontagne, Vice President of Timmins Mechanical Solutions, first heard about cybersecurity, he didn’t take it too seriously. “At first I thought it was a big laugh. Secure? Let’s just hire a security guard and put them at the door.”
It wasn’t long before Eddy came to understand exactly what was at stake if cyber criminals were to get into his company’s system. Fast forward to January 2022, when Timmins Mechanical Solutions became the first company in northern Ontario to become CyberSecure certified.
About the company
Timmins Mechanical Solutions was formed in 2013 in Timmins, Ontario. It provides services to repair heavy equipment off road and sells equipment and machinery. Since its inception, the company has grown to 44 employees.

CyberSecure certification – a real value added
The primary appeal of getting CyberSecure certified for most businesses is increased protection from cyber attacks. Eddy personally knows some neighbouring businesses that have experienced cyber attacks, and he’s very glad that Timmins Mechanical Solutions took a proactive approach before something similar could happen to them. “We never stand still.
