In partnership with Youth Empowering Parents, the Teach a Parent initiative will engage and teach youth to improve the digital literacy levels of their parents, other adults and seniors in their communities. Youth trainers will develop their skills through online downloadable tutor guides, and will provide personalized instruction to adults on topics such as keyboard typing, Internet browsing, online safety and password protection, and accessing e-services.

The Smart Skills Initiative will offer train-the-trainer modules and workshops/drop-in sessions to connect learners with the skills and tools they need to participate in the digital economy. Participants will learn how to access affordable technology, use a word processor, protect their privacy online, and use the Internet to problem solve and access information.

The Connected Learners! initiative will deliver fundamental digital skills training for individuals with low levels of digital literacy knowledge. The training will be delivered through different strategies of presentation. Participant's learning pace will be taken into consideration and individual support will be provided as needed. Participants will learn how to operate a computer and mouse, how to save files, use a USB key, access the Internet safely and securely, send emails, and engage with social media.

Altered Minds Inc. will deliver their Computers for Life initiative, which is a 2-level program that teaches digital skills to those who have limited exposure to computers. Participants will learn the basics of computer hardware/software and Internet safety, and how to use email, pay bills online, and access government services online. Parents will have access to childminding services during workshop sessions.

The Connected Workshops initiative will provide digital literacy workshops to children and youth through Atelier's summer camp program and through courses during the school year. Through educative games and other teaching methods, participants will learn how to type, use a computer and word processing program, browse the Internet, send emails, protect their privacy online, and evaluate information found on the Web.

Atikokan Literacy Inc. will offer their Basics of Computers for Remote First Nations Communities initiative to help enhance computer and Internet knowledge to members of First Nations communities. Through the targeted training curriculum, participants will learn how to use the Internet, bank online, search for jobs online, and more.

Training Languages: English, with the possibility of training in Indigenous languages.

The Connecting People to a Digital Lifestyle initiative will provide people in the Greater Montréal region with basic digital skills training through collaborative projects and peer learning, hands-on workshops, lectures, group instruction, group discussions and one-on-one help. The teaching will emphasize confidence building and Internet uses that appeal to learners because they are useful and satisfying with obvious potential to improve their lives economically, socially and personally. Participants will learn how to navigate an operating system, use word processing and other programs, safely browse the Internet, engage on social media, avoid scams, and evaluate online information.

Training Languages: English, with bilingual instructors who will accommodate French learners.

The National Digital Literacy in Libraries initiative will be delivered in Francophone libraries across Canada. Bibliopresto will deliver basic digital skills training to library staff and volunteers, who will then offer it to the public in the form of group and online training. Library patrons and others will learn how to use a computer and tablet, conduct Internet research, set up an email account, and stay safe online.

The Pathways to Digital Access and Education project will provide digital skills training in Burnaby and surrounding regions for those who would like to increase their computer and Internet knowledge. Participants will learn how to browse the Internet safely, how to use word processing software, how to prevent phishing and hacking, and how to monitor children's use of technology.

The Technology Engagement Program will deliver customized digital literacy training in the skills necessary to engage with the digital economy. Participants will learn how to type, connect to the Internet and create an email account, browse the Internet for information, install apps, and stay safe and secure online. Language support will be available to non-English speakers.

The @LAB Sud-Ouest initiative will offer fundamental digital skills training in the form of group classes, one-to-one lessons, and free access to computer equipment and training for workers in the Southwest. Participants will learn fundamental computer skills such as how to email, browse the Internet, access on-line government resources, and use social media. Mobile training will also be offered to persons with disabilities and to isolated members of the community. Daycare available for daytime activities will also be available.

Le Carrefour d'éducation populaire de Pointe-Saint-Charles website

The Me and the Internet initiative will use a mobile training lab to deliver basic digital skills training across several municipalities in MRC Domaine-du-Roy and in MRC Maria-Chapdelaine, and on the Mashteuiatsh Indigenous community. Participants will learn how to use tablets and other technological devices, and will discover the many possibilities of Internet use, including browsing, online shopping, and connecting with others online.

The Digital Literacy Librarian initiative will deliver fundamental digital skills classes to library staff and patrons at libraries in southwestern Alberta. Interpreters and translated materials will be offered to non-English speakers, and people with disabilities will have access to assistive technologies (visual and auditory). Participants will learn basics in word processing, Internet, email, online safety and cloud computing.

Training Languages: English, with interpretation and translation available in French, Dutch, German, Spanish and South Asian languages.

Chinook Arch Library System website

The Connecting with Technology initiative will deliver basic digital skills training across Canada. Trainings will be held in-person and through tele-conference, and will introduce participants with sight loss to assistive and adaptive technologies to increase knowledge, skills, critical thinking, and information management in the world of digital literacy. Participants will learn how to use apps, email, social media, search engines and other communication tools safely and effectively to participate in the digital economy and their communities.

The TechKNOWtutors initiative will recruit and train youth in Newfoundland and Labrador to deliver basic digital skills training in their communities. Youth tutors will offer learning clinics at CSC NL, through mobile labs in rural regions, and by telephone. Participants will learn how to access the Internet, use browsers, web forms, and applications, navigate school websites, bank and pay bills online, and access government services online. Training will also emphasize Internet safety and security.

Training Languages: English (with interpretation in some circumstances when dealing with newcomers/immigrants).

The Tech Shy to Tech Savvy initiative will offer fundamental digital skills training through an interactive, peer-learning model combined with group-based workshops. Participants will become proficient in everyday computer skills and will gain the knowledge they need to browse the Internet, use social media, and conduct e-commerce safely and effectively.

Digital Nova Scotia website

The Digital Literacy Clubs project will provide an opportunity for individuals to develop digital literacy skills and join a Digital Literacy Club (DLC) within communities across New Brunswick. This initiative compliments the FAN members' usual pursuit of rebuilding and refurbishing computers. The FAN members will provide the DLCs with training, instructions, equipment and technical advice and will provide continuous IT support for those communities and their DLCs.

The Gluu Digital Coaching Network initiative will deliver basic digital skills training to seniors across British Columbia. Gluu Technology Society will recruit and support a network of 'digital peer coaches' able to offer digital skills training and support to seniors in their community. Participants will learn a variety of skills including: how to safely use public WIFI, securely browse the Internet, manage online accounts, identify fraudulent emails, use video calling, understand social media, and access online government services.

Training Languages: English, with French instruction and translation available.

The Fostering a Connected Community: GPL Mobile Classroom initiative will give participants the basic skills necessary to meaningfully participate in the digital economy. Participants will learn how to use word processing software, email and communicate via online platforms, store and manage information on the cloud, and utilize best practices for Internet safety. Training will be tailored to participants' interests and cultural, physical and spiritual requirements.

The DigitALL initiative will open a door to digital learning by offering accessible digital literacy classes, drop-in sessions, and micro-credentialing workshops. Participants will learn the basics of word processing and how to use the Internet to find information, interact and collaborate with others, buy and sell online, and practice safe and responsible digital citizenship. The initiative will also educate teachers who would benefit from implementing digital technologies in the classroom.

The Community Tech Connect initiative will use targeted and 'Pop-up' programming to deliver fundamental digital skills training. Participants will learn hardware components and word processing skills, and how to browse the Internet, use social media, and protect themselves online. LLSC will also be adapting their training curriculum to meet the needs of various people including those with a disability, indigenous people and Francophones.

The DigitalSmarts Program will train YWCA facilitators in various cities across Canada to deliver basic digital literacy programming in their facilities. The resulting YWCA workshops will be tailored to the specific needs of each community, covering topics such as how to search the Internet effectively, shopping and banking online, using social media, job searching, and protecting their privacy and security online.

The Tech4Parkland initiative will provide basic digital skills training at library branches and community facilities throughout Parkland County and Paul First Nation Reserve. Innovative course sessions will cover such topics as 'Computer Fundamentals' and 'Why Should I Care about Fake News and Staying Safe Online?'. Library patrons who attend training can borrow a laptop or tablet to further enhance their skills.

The Enabling Under-Represented Groups to Participate in the Digital Economy initiative will enable participants to use the Internet in their daily lives and gain the confidence and skills to participate in the digital economy. Flexible scheduling will be offered at multiple locations, and interpretation and translation will be available in several languages.

Training Languages: English, Arabic, Cantonese, Hindi, Mandarin, Polish, Punjabi, Spanish, and Tagalog.

The Te(a)ch initiative will bring basic digital skills training to communities across Arctic Canada. Participants will learn how to use a computer, keyboard, and mouse, navigate an operating system, browse the Internet, create an email account, and access and use free software for business, learning, and productivity. Trainers will travel to reach learners in remote locations.

Training Languages: English, with ASL interpretation available, and translated materials in Inuktitut, Cree, and other languages.

The Immigrant Seniors Go Digital Project will enhance the digital literacy skills of seniors who are newcomers to Canada. Training will also cover social networking, digital photo management, and accessing online government services.

The Digital Literacy Skill Development initiative will deliver fundamental digital skills training to Indigenous learners, including young adults and community elders. Participants will learn the basics of word processing programs and how to safely navigate the Internet, use financial management tools, and use email and social media.

The Act Social Lab Digital Outreach Initiative will deliver basic-to-intermediate digital skills training in west-central Alberta. Participants will learn how to navigate the Internet, use cloud-based storage and collaboration tools, and stay safe online. Later classes will cover more advanced topics such as digital economy readiness, and blogging and social media for employability.

The Digital NWT initiative will provide digital literacy resources and courses customized to the unique needs of Indigenous peoples and residents in the Northwest Territories (NWT). A team of community-based instructors will offer digital skills training in each of the five NWT regions. Participants will learn how to use digital devices, browse the Internet, manage data, and navigate the Internet safely and securely.

Training Languages: English, with translation of materials into French, and some translation support available during courses in Gwich'in, Inuvialuktun, Tch, North Slavey, and/or South Slavey.

The Digital Literacy for the Community initiative will help local community members engage in the digital economy and become both consumers and producers of Internet content. Participants will learn basic computer and word processing skills and how to browse the Internet, evaluate online information, upload user-generated content, use email, and store information on the cloud.

The Computer Savvy Courses initiative will increase basic digital literacy skills and knowledge in the Gaspé and surrounding areas. The Y Digital Skills Literacy Program will deliver fundamental computer and Internet literacy training in YMCA locations and other community centers across Canada. Participants will learn how to use basic computer software, search for and navigate webpages, use social media, and protect themselves online. Customized technology support and coaching will be available to those who need it, and learning materials will be provided for reference beyond the training.

The Yukon Digital Roadshow initiative will use a mobile lab to bring basic digital skills training to communities across the territory. Participants will learn about computer hardware and how to manage folders, browse the Internet, shop online, and use programs and applications in everyday life. Training will also emphasize Internet safety and how to protect personal information online.
