| Project Description and Anticipated Results: This contribution agreement aims to showcase the use of Ford's Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2ICE) in a daily shuttle bus application. These almost zero-emission vehicles will provide a highly public, visible setting for the demonstration of new hydrogen technology. The buses will run from December 2006 to March 2008. For the Parliament Hill portion of the project, the demonstration will also include a hydrogen refuelling station for the buses, which is being supplied by Air Liquide of Canada and funded in part by Natural Resources Canada. It is expected that such a visible and venerable setting will help the public gain acceptance for hydrogen technology, which could ultimately lead to increased demand. Moreover, the technology partners will have a chance to test this engine technology in the variable Canadian climate, indispensable real-world field research to help with Canadian hydrogen technology acceptance and adoption. | |
