Industrial Sector:
Energy
Project Purpose:
Demonstration of Fuel Cell Systems in Early Adopting Utility Applications and Zero Emission Hydrogen Refuelling Solution
Authorized Assistance: $4,252,500
Project Description and Anticipated Results:

The proposal fits within the framework of the Canadian Government’s Hydrogen Early Adopters Program (h2EA) and is endorsed by the Hydrogen Village Partnership. The proposed early market applications are; Utility Work Vehicles, a Hybrid Fuel Cell Battery Delivery Vehicle, Back-up Power for Telecommunications and a Purolator Courier Fuel Cell Powered Delivery Vehicle. In order to demonstrate a zero emission hydrogen solution for these niche applications (as well as other village hydrogen needs) the project also incorporates a large renewable energy based Refuelling Station. The Utility Work Vehicles will also be supported with the use of On-board Fuel Cell Diagnostic Systems and Off-board Diagnostic and monitoring tools – equipment that will set the standard for future fuel cell vehicular diagnostic systems.

The technologies will be utilized and demonstrated with the City of Toronto at Exhibition Place.
