Executive Director, Prairie and Northern Region

What is a typical day in the life of a regional executive director?

What I love most about my job is that every day is completely different! I could be anywhere in the region, meeting stakeholders, taking our ministers here and there, or working out of one of our several ISED offices across the region.

Our regional operation covers three provinces and two territories, and my team is super-connected with what's happening in each of their areas as it relates to industry, research, emerging developments and more. I get to experience a lot of "Wow, who knew?" moments!

Why do you love what you do?

I get to interact with a lot of brilliant, creative and forward-thinking people who are doing fascinating things. Researchers, business people, industry groups, polytechnics, universities and non-government organizations are accomplishing amazing things, and we get to be on the leading edge of much of that.

Not a day goes by that we don't make a difference somewhere. I am continually proud of what we do here at ISED and how we contribute to a better Canada. What could be better than that?
