Greetings

A few days ago, whilst I was at the university, I was the undergraduate student representative to the library board. That was a very educational experience and I held the position for some three years. What I found was that almost any of the proposed changes were about more money for the large corporations. Very little if anything was actually trickling down to the artists and or individuals/small groups. It also seemed that enough of the artists gaining were actually quite dead and often for quite some time. Dunno how copyright was actually 'helping' those artists - - - - its sorta tough spending income when one is dead. (Their heirs are given their own chance(s) to achieve gobs of money.)

This proposal smells like Disney crop told the government's lawyers what to write. As Mr Walt Disney is no longer with us I think it is also fair to say that he just might have an opinion on this works (which keep getting held in copywrite with each of the changes of quite a few years). I find myself wondering if ZMr Walt would have rather had his stuff before the people than stashed in a vault waiting for the rights on some particular medium to be sold - - - - well just one of time.

I would think that this present bureaucracy might do well to listen to a phrase used by the present incumbent's papa - - - - "the government has no business snooping (or being) in people's bedrooms". It would seem to me that including the internet content I create or view such content is no stretch.

Somehow our present bureaucracy believes that the megacorps like Bell etc etc can do no wrong. I am far more convinced that they can do 'no right'.

Regards
