Base and Mobile Stations
System Type
- Application Type (required) – Drop down
- Base via repeater to mobile – For systems that contain a base, repeater and mobiles.
- Base/Repeater to mobile – For systems that contain a base or repeater and mobiles.
- Fixed-to-fixed (point-to-point) – Point-to-point communication in Land Mobile service (below 960MHz).
- Mesh Network (Simplex Only) – Provides communication using simplex frequencies below 960MHz to communicate either directly to the master or through one another within the system.
- Point-to-multipoint (known endpoints) – Provides communication on radio frequencies below 960 MHz between multiple fixed stations that are each authorized to operate at a specific point.
- Point-to-multipoint (unknown endpoints) – Provides communication on radio frequencies below 960 MHz between multiple fixed stations that are authorized within a specific geographical area.
- Type of operation (required) – Drop down
- User – Radiocommunication user as defined in the Radiocommunication Regulations.
- Provider – Radiocommunication service provider as defined in the Radiocommunication Regulations.
- Does the system use a fixed base or repeater already authorized to another Canadian licensee?
- Yes – If your system communicates to another Canadian licensee, you will need to provide this information. The station search will show when you click Next.
- No – The station will be authorized on the current licence.
- System configuration – Depending on the application type, you may have different options. See below for entire list of configurations for all application types – Drop down

Fixed Base Station [Station 1]
- Station authorized by – Drop down
- Current licence – The station will be authorized on the current licence
- Foreign station – The station is already authorized on another foreign station (ghost station)
- New licence – The station will be contained on a new licence (ghost station)
- Existing licence – The station belongs to an existing Canadian licensee (ghost station)
Click Search to search for the existing licence to link to the application.
- Not licensed – It is an unlicensed station (ghost station)
- Authorization Number of the Station – If “New” or “Existing” licence is selected, a search option will be available to search for the station in the ISED Spectrum Management System (SMS) database
- Station ID – Information obtained from the previous authorization number
- Station Type – Auto populated based on the system configuration selected
- Station Name and Address or Area of Operation (municipality, province, or region) (required)

- Additional Address Information (if necessary)
- Licensee Station Reference Name – If the licensee wishes to add reference name to the station

- For a modification, select N/A if there are no changes being made to the current antenna system.

- Company Name – Enter the manufacturer of the transmitter
- Product Marketing Name – The name or model number under which the product is marketed/offered for sale in Canada.
- Certification Number – Issued by ISED and certifies that the equipment complies with established Radio Standards Specifications (RSS) requirements, in accordance with the appropriate Radio Standards Procedure (RSP).
Once the make and model have been found use the Copy button to select the row that matches the type, frequency range (MHz), Designation of Emission, Occupied Bandwidth and Power Rage (W) that matches the radio you are licensing. These specifications will automatically populate in the application when the model is selected using the Copy button.

- Attachment Type (required) – Select the appropriate attachment type to describe the file.
- Description – Include a short description to provide further information.
- Click Add Attachment to upload the file; otherwise it will not be included.

Click Next to return to “Application Summary” and review your application.
Review and Submission of the Application
- When the entry of information is completed and the application is ready for submission, click Save then Validate to confirm the application is complete.
- If there is any missing information within the application an error message in red will appear at the top of the page along with an error message displayed to the right of each section where validation failed. Click its corresponding Edit button to make the required corrections. Save and Validate as required until all validations are passed successfully.
- Select Submit to ISED when your application has been successfully validated.
