In accordance with the Cabinet Directive on the Environmental Assessment of Policy, Plan and Program Proposals (2010), a Preliminary Scan was conducted for this Proposal: Order Issuing a Direction to the CRTC on Promoting Competition, Affordability, Consumer Interests and Innovation in Telecommunications. The Preliminary Scan indicated that the proposal is unlikely to result in important environmental effects, though the new direction will inform future decisions made by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), which may have indirect impacts.
