Asking ISPs to block websites that host copyright infringing material is not productive, effective, or fair.
It causes considerably more workload for and places the onus on the ISP to maintain a list of these sites and stop traffic to them, as well as handling inquiries about it.
It is not effective, as many people have access to VPNs/proxies and can simply bypass these restrictions.
And it is not fair because it goes against Net Neutrality. Having a free and open internet is incredibly important, not just to Canada but to humanity. Unrestricted access to the world wide web does carry risk, but that is not the responsibility of the ISP, but of the individual user.
It should be only the copyright holder and the host of the website who is involved in any sort of dispute about copyright.
Copyright is a very convoluted topic and laws can vary through different countries. It is important to protect Copyright holder's rights, and in we need to do so in a way that is effective and lawful. Please do not place the onus on ISPs. It is only the responsibility of the host and copyright holder.
