Trademark description

A rectangular label containing the words J. & F. MARTELL printed in the centre in cream letters on a blue ground with a silver edge surrounded by arabesque work on a back ground of cream and silver horizontal stripes and surmounted by a Coat of Arms whereon are represented a martlet above a shield with three hammers on a back ground of cream and silver vertical stripes with a silver edge. Above the Coat of Arms is a blue scroll containing in cream letters the word TRADE MARK ON CAPSULES AND CASES while behind the Coat of Arms passes another blue scroll on the projecting ends of which are printed in cream letters the words OLD BRANDY. Below the words J. & F. MARTELL is another blue scroll with silver edge with the word COGNAC in cream letters. The whole of the above is bounded by an endless silver line of approximately elliptical shape to which the four sides of the label are tangential. In each corner are vine leaves in silver and blue on a cream ground. Round the edge of the label runs a silver line with blue edges. Above the rectangular label is a crescent shaped neck label, bordered with silver, which label is entirely covered (with the exception of the border) with the words J. & F. MARTELL printed in minute cream letters over a blue crescent shaped ground surrounded by a narrow cream coloured space. The centre of the label contains two cream coloured stars. The parts of the said Trade Mark which are claimed as essential are the words J. & F. MARTELL the Coat of Arms on the shield above such words and the particular design and arrangement of the arabesque work scrolls and vine leaves in the rectangular label and the words J. & F. MARTELL in the crescent shaped label.
