Indigenous Reconciliation

Two ways to request a waiver of the $5 application fee for Access to Information Act requests:

Indigenous requesters or their representatives may request a waiver of the $5 application fee, under the condition of ‘advancing reconciliation’, through one of the following two methods:

  • Submit an online request, as indicated above, under Submitting an online request, pay the $5 application fee, then send an email to ic.atip-aiprpa.ic@ised-isde.gc.ca, referencing your ATIP request number, and indicating that you wish to request a waiver of the $5 application fee under the condition of advancing reconciliation; or
  • Complete the Access to Information Request Form, as indicated above, under Mailing your request, and send it to us by postal mail or email to ic.atip-aiprpa.ic@ised-isde.gc.ca, indicating that you wish to request a waiver of the $5 application fee, under the condition of advancing reconciliation.

Regardless of which method you choose to request the waiver of the $5 fee, you do not need to provide any documentation proving your Indigenous identity. However, you must still provide documentation proving your Canadian citizenship or residency.
