Download records of industrial design registrations and assignments filed with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO). We provide new and updated records on a quarterly basis.
The files on this page consist of tables with data from multiple industrial design records, as opposed to our XML files, which are individual to each industrial design record. To download industrial design data in XML format, please visit our registrations and assignments page.
Format
We provide this data in a combination of CSV and TXT formats. Compared to XML, these formats are more accessible to researchers. This aligns with CIPO's goal to encourage research in the field of intellectual property.
Information included for registrations
- Bibliographic data: registration number, title, names and addresses of applicants, owners and agents
- Registration status
- Terms of protection
- Description
Note: Industrial design images and other associated media normally associated with industrial design registrations are not included within the CSV/TXT collection of files. Industrial design media files are paired with the XML files.
Information included for assignments
- Registration date
- Registration number
- Names and addresses of transferee and transferor
Data structure
This database consists of 9 tables:
- ID_Application_Main
- ID_Application_Classification
- ID_Application_Description
- ID_Application_Image
- ID_Application_Interested_Party
- ID_Application_Correction
- ID_Assignment_Main
- ID_Assignment_Interested_Party
- ID_Assignment_Correction
ID_Application_Main is the first master table that contains the basic information on the industrial design applications filed. ID_Assignment_Main is the second master table that contains the basic information on the industrial design assignments filed. They both contain the application number as the primary key, as well as basic information regarding the Industrial design registrations and assignments. All other tables can be linked to the ID_Application_Main and the ID_Assignment_Main tables through the Application Number. Due to the amount of data, we have split some tables into multiple smaller tables to make them more manageable for downloading.
