Alberta Seed Processors

Alberta Seed Processors is a network of seed and grain processing professionals committed to supporting Alberta’s farmers and seed growers as well as the agricultural industry. The organization consists of 67 farmer-owned co-operatives offering value-added services such as seed processing, market access through dockage removal and other services tailored to their rural communities. Alberta Seed Processors supports its membership by offering and promoting professional development and by providing group services, risk management programs and advocacy that strengthens both local and global agriculture, all of which fosters collaboration and innovation within the sector.

The organization supports long-term sustainability by empowering each member co-op through education on best management practices and guidance on board governance and general business management. Many of these member co-ops have been operating for over 70 years and have successfully reinvested operational revenues in modernized facilities equipped with optical sorting and legal-for-trade weighing systems, enabling the processing of a variety of crops, including cereals, pulses and specialty crops like hemp.

By embracing the co-operative spirit, Alberta Seed Processors enhances efficiency and business resilience, supporting local and global agriculture, and ensures farmers have access to sustainable, world-class processing solutions, helping secure the future of Alberta’s agricultural community.
