Canada's Connectivity Strategy

High-Speed Access for All: Canada's Connectivity Strategy is a bold vision for our country. It paints a picture of a nation where modern, high-speed digital networks are available to all, no matter where they live, work and play.

This new strategy features two main objectives: that all Canadians have access to broadband at speeds of at least 50 Megabits per second (Mbps) download / 10 Mbps upload, and mobile wireless coverage is available where Canadians live and work, and along major road corridors.

The work laid out in this strategy will help Canadians stay in touch – and stay safe on the roads. It will allow them to bring their businesses to the world, access telemedicine and online health services, take distance education courses, and more.

The strategy aligns historic significant investments in high-speed networks with complementary measures designed to further accelerate their expansion, and it will help leverage a range of technologies to ensure a fully connected Canada.

This strategy complements Rural Opportunity, National Prosperity: An Economic Development Strategy for Rural Canada, which is designed to ensure Canadians living in rural and remote communities have equal opportunity to participate fully in our nation's economy and share in its prosperity.

Canada's future depends on connectivity, and rural Canadians cannot be left behind. High-Speed Access for All: Canada's Connectivity Strategy will help ensure the economic, social and security benefits of modern, high-speed digital networks are available to us all.
