The Connect to Innovate program is now permanently closed.
Connect to Innovate was a Government of Canada program that invested $585 million to fund projects bringing improved Internet speeds to rural and remote communities in Canada. The program primarily supported new "backbone" infrastructure to connect institutions like schools and hospitals. A portion of the funding was also used to upgrade "last-mile" infrastructure to serve households and businesses.
The Connect to Innovate program launched on December 15, 2016. All funding has been allocated, and the program is no longer accepting applications or distributing funds.
