Strengthening Canada's leadership in AI innovation and adoption
Canada helped pioneer modern artificial intelligence. The next step is to ensure Canadian businesses can put that technology to work and that Canadian AI companies can build, sell and scale their solutions from Canada.
As part of AI for All, Canada’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, an additional $500 million over five years is expanding the Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative, bringing total federal funding for the initiative to $700 million. Delivered by Canada’s regional development agencies, it supports:
- AI adoption: helping small- and medium-sized enterprises and not-for-profit organizations adopt and integrate AI technologies to improve productivity, competitiveness, growth and resilience.
- AI commercialization and scale-up: helping Canadian AI entrepreneurs, start-ups and scale-ups validate, commercialize, deploy and scale Canadian-made AI products and services.
- AI ecosystem enablement: helping regional organizations, incubators, accelerators and other not-for-profit organizations provide the technical, advisory and market supports businesses need to adopt and commercialize AI.
