National Quantum Strategy (NQS) overview

ISED provided a brief update on the NQS, including initial goals and currently funded programming. Information was also presented on ongoing work, including international outreach and the roadmapping exercises.

Roadmaps

The Council discussed the computing and communications roadmaps. There was widespread agreement on the direction of the roadmaps, though more discussion is necessary regarding prioritization. Members were invited to share the roadmaps with colleagues. During the Council's next meeting, time will be dedicated to the communications and sensing roadmaps.

The Council also highlighted the value of inviting guests, including program delivery organisations, to future council meetings.

Next steps

ISED will continue its work on the roadmaps, and welcomes input from members and the community. A social media announcement including links to the Terms of Reference and Council member biographies is forthcoming.

The next meeting will be held virtually on September 12, 2023.
