On behalf of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy would like to invite you to read the proposed amendments to the Wage Earner Protection Program Regulations, available for your review in the Canada Gazette, Part I.
ESDC would like to receive your feedback by email (alex.duff@labour-travail.gc.ca) by January 15, 2021, on the proposed changes to the regulations, which would improve Wage Earner Protection Program (WEPP) eligibility by:
- enabling earlier WEPP payments when an employer engages in a process of liquidating;
- extending WEPP coverage to include foreign proceedings; and
- updating payment of trustee and receiver fees and expenses so that more individuals can access the WEPP.
Your feedback will help finalize the proposed regulations.
