The purpose of this report is to describe and analyse the level of competition in key communication services in the areas of broadcasting and telecommunication in Canada. The researchers reviewed reports and documents available from industry, government, the CRTC and consumer sources, and they also conducted interviews with company representatives; due to the rapid changed in the market, this paper was periodised to reflect the market in the spring and fall of 1999. This project assesses the current trends in marketplace competition, services, and pricing, compares these to the goals and objectives of government policy and regulatory initiatives designed for the creation of efficient competition, and analyses the degree of choice for consumers across Canada.This document is available in the following language(s):
