Rural and urban households spend the same share of their budget on the necessities of food,clothing and shelter but rural households spend more on food and less on shelter.
Distance influences rural household expenditure patterns. Rural households spend a higher
share on transportation and a lower share on some services (e.g., cablevision, Internet) which
are more difficult to access.
