This report examines Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) from a consumer perspective. The report examines the different models of VoIP currently in the market, the benefits and risks these services present to consumers and considers the migration of residential telephone service from circuit-switched service to new VoIP services. Consumer attitudes to VoIP revealed in a nationwide online scientific poll are used to illuminate the disjunction between the rapidly growing VoIP market and consumers’ perceptions of it and understanding of its differences from traditional telephone service.This document is available in the following language(s):
