The report includes research on who generates environmental information, how it is distributed or made publicly available, and how consumers (and producers) use it. The research was focused on four subject areas drinking water quality, product labels and environmental certification programmes, forest products certification, and housing/indoor environments. The study was designed to advance understanding about whether and how environmental information that is accessible by consumers and the public is used to make informed decisions about product purchases or to protect the environment and their health. The answers to these questions are important to government policy makers, corporate decision makers and public interest groups.This document is available in the following language(s):
