This report examines cosmetic (lawn and garden) pesticide use in Ontario, public attitudes towards these products and services, and the standard of advertisements, websites and communications used by the industry to promote these products and services. It illustrates the preponderance of misleading and sometimes illegal statements used to promote chemical pesticides. This report makes recommendations to the governments of Canada and Ontario to increase enforcement of existing pesticide use and right-to-know regulations. It also calls for new regulatory measures to eliminate the use of cosmetic pesticides and to accelerate the entrance of chemical-free, least toxic pest control products and services into the market.This document is available in the following language(s):
