Summary

The smartphone is a powerful, eminently capable, useful and productive mobile device, particularly when paired with a knowledgeable consumer. However, when you pair the average consumer with the emerging dark world of cyber threats the results looks less rosy and more uncertain. The Consumers Council of Canada set out to research this world of smartphones and current and emerging cyber threats with a view to determining their consumer impact, as well as consumers’ awareness and understanding of these threats, how they deal with them, and what can be done to reduce and manage such threats.
