Answer the questions below to help determine if an AM broadcasting certificate is what you require.
You must wait until your CRTC application is ready
Most applications submitted to ISED also require that a corresponding broadcasting licence application be submitted to the CRTC within 30 days of submitting to ISED.
An engineering brief is required
Most submissions for a new broadcasting undertaking, or for modifications to an existing broadcasting station, require an engineering brief signed off by a registered professional engineer.
Where low-power broadcasting undertakings are concerned, ISED may, in specific circumstances, waive our requirement that technical submissions be prepared by broadcasting engineering consultants, provided that qualified technical staff prepare and sign the submission.
Adding or modifying an auxiliary (back-up) transmitter can also be done by qualified technical staff (no engineering brief required). However, when in doubt, consultation with a registered professional engineer is still recommended.
