Industry-based trade data are derived from product-based trade data.
This will give the total values for imports and exports recorded at the border by customs of all products entering or leaving Canada. As such, only manufacturing and primary resource industries contribute to merchandise trade and trade in services is therefore not represented.
The figures for "Total - all industries" should match those for "Total - all products" for Canada's trade with different trading partners, but could have slightly different totals due to rounding and revisions for the previous last year and current year.
Users can select one or several industries using:
- Keyword search Enable you to conduct a search applied against the industry descriptions classified under the NAICS as well as a thesaurus of synonyms and related terms.
- Code search Enable you to conduct a code search by entering the industry NAICS code. Partial codes are allowed as well as a series of code can be listed using “:”, “or”.
Once you have made you selection from the keyword search or industry search and added your code(s) to the selected industries, you have the option of selecting from the Show Industries button grouped or shown individually
This enables users to select industries by browsing through the list of NAICS codes.
The ranking is based on the monetary value of imports and exports for the selected year.
