Regulations related to Bill C-25 come into force

On August 31, 2022, the regulations related to Bill C-25, An Act to amend the Canada Business Corporations Act, the Canada Cooperatives Act, the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act and the Competition Act, came into force.

The regulations bring changes to rules for the election of directors of distributing corporations, including majority voting, individual voting and voting for and against. The regulations also bring changes to the retention periods of documents held by the Director and some technical and administrative amendments.
