The purpose of this report is to analyse how well the existing policy and regulatory frameworks protect the interests of airline passengers in Canada in areas such as pricing, safety, and quality of service. This study employed the following research methodologies, including: a review of literature, legislation, reports and other written materials, as well as consultations and interviews with industry, government and consumer interest groups in Canada and elsewhere. The report makes several recommendations, including: 1) the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) and Transport Canada should establish consumer advisory groups, 2) safety analysis should place people before profits, 3) service standards should be created for airports, and 4) the CTA should have the authority to review airline pricing.This document is available in the following language(s):
