2003Summary
Consumers were consulted on issues of concern with respect to nutrition labelling. Consumer input was attained using several methods: focus groups, key informant interviews, e-mail solicitation from members of the Consumers' Association of Canada and other interested consumers or persons working with consumers, and a meeting of the food committee and the CAC volunteer advisory committee. The research found that consumers want clear information at point of purchase, but also in a 'take home' option, for both pre-packaged and single-ingredient foods. At point of purchase, consumers indicated that charts and posters, signs near or with the product and reference books near the product were the most effective. This document is available in the following language(s):
