Summary

This research aimed to evaluate the actual advantages of the extended warranties offered to consumers, and examine if the price asked for by retailers (for each type of guarantee) is reasonable. Moreover, this research aimed to identify the elements (or obstacles) that make the customer’s appreciation of the warranty’s actual advantages more difficult. Finally, this study allowed us to issue recommendations concerning the information media and legislative measures that are most effective in ensuring that consumers are able to judge the credibility of the asking price for extended guarantees.
