Overview of the Restricted Operator Certificate - Maritime Commercial (ROC-MC)

The Restricted Operator Certificate - Maritime Commercial (ROC-MC) is a type of radio operator certificate.

It is intended for mariners who operate the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) on commercial ships within the North American A1 Sea Area, as defined in Radio Aids to Marine Navigation. This radio equipment is mandatory on board such vessels.

Steps to follow to obtain your ROC-MC

To obtain a ROC-MC, you need to take a course and pass an exam administered by an accredited institution.

  • For ROC-MC certification, accredited institutions provide both training and examinations.

  • Once you have completed and passed your official exam, your certificate will be mailed to you.
