    An individual with significant control (ISC) is someone who owns or controls a corporation. This individual:

    • owns, controls or directs a significant number of shares individually or jointly with one or more individuals;
    • has control in fact over the corporation without owning any shares; or
    • meets a combination of any of these factors.

    Annual filings

    Active business corporations must file their annual returns within the 60 days following their anniversary date. They must also file information on their individuals with significant control (ISC) at the same time as filing their annual return.

    The anniversary date is the date a corporation is created under the CBCA (for ex., date of incorporation or amalgamation) or the date a corporation first comes under the jurisdiction of the CBCA (for ex., date of continuance).
