4. Submit the completed application
Once you have prepared your application package and made sure it meets our requirements, you are ready to submit your application and pay your fees.

Fees
Application fee and late fee
If you did not pay the application fee when you filed (2. Get a filing date), you need to pay the application fee and the late fee. We will send you a notice that tells you which fees you need to pay. You'll have 3 months from the notice date to pay your fees or your application will be withdrawn.
Maintenance fees
To maintain your patent, you must pay an annual maintenance fee starting on the 2nd anniversary of your filing date. For example, if you file on , your first maintenance fee will be due on .
- You must pay your maintenance fees on time.
- We will not send reminder letters letting you know that a maintenance fee due date is approaching.
- If the full required maintenance fee is not paid on or before the due date, a late fee must also be paid.
- The late fee can never be waived.
Accepted forms of payment
To pay your fees online, you can only use:
- a credit card (paid during online application process); or
- your Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) deposit account
Online payments are processed Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm (ET). For security reasons, your session will be timed out after 30 minutes if there is no activity.

Bring your application and fees to a our headquarters at 50 Victoria Street, Place du Portage I, Room C114 in Gatineau, Quebec.
How to pay your fees
To pay in person, download and complete the Fee form and bring it with you to our headquarters. If you can't download a copy, we will have a paper copy you can use.

Note that the model of facsimile is a Xerox C505/X and that this information may be needed to ensure a successful colour transmission.
The electronic transmittal report returned to you following your facsimile transmission is your acknowledgment receipt. Confidentiality of the facsimile transmission process can't be guaranteed.
